Shade-Grown for Quality and Sustainability

At Wantok Coffee, we take pride in growing our beans using sustainable, shade-grown farming methods. This approach ensures that our coffee cherries ripen evenly while also providing a natural habitat for over 90 species of birds on our estates. As a result, our coffee is certified Bird-Friendly, contributing to the preservation of biodiversity in our growing regions.

Premium Arabica Varieties

Our coffee plantations are dedicated exclusively to Arabica coffee, focusing on the Typica varieties. These trees trace their roots to the esteemed Jamaica Blue Mountain lineage, introduced to Papua New Guinea decades ago. We implement a carefully planned medium-density shade strategy, allowing the coffee plants to thrive under optimal conditions while maintaining ecological balance.

Elevation and Climate: Key to Exceptional Flavour

Nestled in the fertile Waghi Valley of the Western Highlands and Jiwaka Province of Papua New Guinea, our coffee is cultivated at an elevation of 5,000 feet. The high-altitude environment, combined with ideal weather conditions, enhances the development of rich flavours, resulting in a coffee that is both smooth and complex.

Commitment to Quality

Our dedication to excellence starts in the field. Every coffee cherry is hand-picked at peak ripeness to ensure the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. Only the brightest red cherries, bursting with flavor, make it into our carefully controlled processing system.
At every stage of cultivation and production, we uphold the highest standards, relying on time-tested practices to deliver consistently exceptional coffee. This unwavering commitment to quality is what makes Wantok Coffee stand out in every cup.
